Giuseppe TARTINI, Concerto pour violon et orchestre en ré mineur, D 45, Peter RYBAR, Orchestre Symphonique de Winterthur, Clemens DAHINDEN, Westminster WL 5118
 Giuseppe Tartini a écrit pas moins de 135 concertos pour violon et orchestre! Il est donc un peu difficile de s'y retrouver... Ces concertos ont été publiés entre 1728 et 1740.
Le concerto en ré mineur que je vous propose ici porte la désignation D 45.
"[...] Tartini's Violin Concerto in D minor is remarquable both as an early example of the solo concerto and as an outstanding composition in its own right. It is differentiated from previous concerto writing by its constructivist scheme. Purely orchestral chapters alternate with blocks of solo playing to orchestral accompaniment. For instance, in the first movement the orchestra opens with the main statement. This same statement is then repeated by the solo violin with orchestral accompaniment and extended. This is followed by an interlude of the orchestra alone, which in turn is elaborated again by the solo violin against the accompaniment. This section leads over into the solo violin cadenza, and the work is concluded by an orchestral postlude. This scheme already indicates the shape of the romantic violin concerto, which was to reach its peak more than half a century after Tartini's death. But in other respects this concerto is still very much a product of the baroque era. Its thematic content is definitively taken from the dance, a typical baroque practice. The harmonies of the second movement have decided modal leanings. Finally, the entire three-movement work derives from one motival nucleus of the repetition of one note - a technique which we also find in Bach. It is this latter treatment which gives the work its exceptional beauty and which reveals Tartini as a composer of high imagination [...]" Citation extraite du texte de Peter Hugh Reed, au verso de la pochette.
P.H.Reed n'exagère pas, ce concerto est vraiment magnifique! Dans l'enregistrement que je vous propose ici, Peter RYBAR est accompagné par l'Orchestre Symphonique de WINTERTHUR sous la direction de Clemens DAHINDEN. Cet enregistrement est paru pour la première fois sur la première face du disque Westminter WL 5118, un disque mentionné pour la première fois dans le 2er supplément du WERM, couvrant la période mai/juin 1951 à 1952. La première publication a donc eut lieu au plus tard en 1952. Une réédition est parue vers la fin des années 1950 sur le disque Westminster XWN 18192 (couplé avec les concerto de Nardini et de Viotti parus sur le Westminster WL 50-49).
